Women Sport Australia (WSA) is pleased to release the details and dates of our 2022 Women in Sport Mentoring Programs which involves matching up and coming female sports administrators with mentors.
Over the past several years, hundreds of women have participated in the program which includes participation in a professional development workshop and being custom-matched with a mentor.
During 2020 and 2021, with the onset of COVID, the program has largely been conducted as online workshops and virtual mentor catch-ups but we are excited to begin to return to in person sessions in 2022.
The Women in Sport Mentoring Program will feature in-person workshops in Melbourne in March, on the Gold Coast in May and in Sydney in September.
Recognising the greater reach across the country of online programs, there will also be virtual workshops held in August and November.
The workshop that program participants attend focuses on leadership skills and career development is facilitated by two industry experts. Carol Fox is the founder of Confident Communication for Leaders and former WSA President and Bron Parry runs Dynamix Sports Projects and works with Softball Australia.
Women Sport Australia President Gen Dohrmann participated in the program in 2017 as her first introduction to the organisation.
“Having just started in a manager role within sport, the Women in Sport Mentoring Program helped me immensely. The workshop focused on leadership skills and career development and then my mentor helped me to define how I wanted to grow in my role,” said Dohrmann.
“I strongly encourage women working in sport to register for the program and take control of the next step in their career.”
