The Allan Labor Government is taking significant steps to support families with the cost of living while ensuring that more children have the opportunity to engage in sports they enjoy. Premier Jacinta Allan and Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence have announced the opening of the next round of the Get Active Kids Voucher Program, providing eligible families with vouchers of up to $200 per child.

“We’re helping busy families by making sure every child can get active this summer – whether they like basketball or ballet, every kid deserves to have a go at the sport they love,” says Premier Jacinta Allan.

With a substantial investment of $6 million from the Victorian Budget 2024/25, the program aims to encourage more children in Victoria to join local sports clubs or explore new activities. Since its launch in 2020, nearly 150,000 vouchers have been issued, allowing families to cover costs associated with sports memberships, registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Research indicates that more than half of the families who received these vouchers stated their children would not have participated in sports without this financial assistance.

The program includes over 70 different sports and more than 2,000 activity providers throughout the state, ensuring that children across Victoria can find the activities they love, from soccer to dance. Families can conveniently apply for the vouchers online and redeem them at local sporting clubs and activity providers.

Eligibility for the vouchers extends to children aged up to 18 who are named on a Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, as well as those listed on a Medicare Card. Additionally, a special consideration stream is available to support children in care, as well as temporary or provisional visa holders, migrants, and international students.
