The Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) is proud to announce its support for the NSC Sports Investment Summit, an event that arrives at a pivotal moment for the Australian sports industry, particularly as we enter the ‘Green and Gold Runway’ enroute to Brisbane 2032. As the industry grapples with reduced resources and tightening funding sources, the Summit offers a unique opportunity to explore innovative strategies and unlock new investment channels to ensure the sustainability of sport in Australia.

Established in 1976, CAS has long been a champion of ‘Sport for All’, advocating for the interests of national and state sporting organisations and promoting the societal benefits of sport. With a commitment to supporting community-level sport, CAS has continually pushed for increased government support and equitable access to resources. Now, through its partnership with the NSC Sports Investment Summit, CAS aims to explore how sport can attract new funding, particularly from non-traditional sources, and bring the diverse industry together in a manner to transform the opportunities the industry can create.

“As the Green and Gold Decade progresses and we prepare for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, much of the focus has been on elite-level competition. However, grassroots sport is struggling, with diminishing volunteer support and traditional sponsorship models drying up,” said Ned Coten, President of CAS. “Our involvement in the NSC Sports Investment Summit is driven by a desire to identify new ways to secure the future of both community sport as much as podium opportunities. We believe that with a consistent message and a united effort, we can unlock significant investment opportunities”.

The NSC Sports Investment Summit will feature a series of high-profile speakers and panels designed to inspire and guide the future of sport investment in Australia. These include Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia, discussing ‘The Opportunity to Transform Sport’ and how to adapt and engage with government, financial, and commercial markets to reshape the relevance and economic sustainability of sport.

The NSC Sport Investment Summit will also feature the ‘Funding the Future of Sport’ panel, exploring global best practices and strategies for attracting investment. Attendees will gain insights from leading international investors such as Ryan Gilbert, Founder of Launchpad Capital (USA), who will explain how clubs, leagues, and events can position themselves to attract global interest.

Seeking to unlock philanthropic investment in sport the Summit will explore new funding models in sport with Sue Hunt AM, CEO of the Australian Sports Foundation, and Natalie Cook OAM OLY, Director for Brisbane 2032, who will examine how philanthropy can fuel the growth of Australian sport.

In an industry often fragmented, CAS sees this Summit as a chance to unite stakeholders across sectors and foster collaboration to secure investment. “We need to encourage collective action across NSO’s, SSA’s, all levels of Government, technology, health, and entertainment to secure sustainable funding,” added Coten. “The Summit is a timely opportunity to build and realign these relationships”.

The Summit will also focus on innovation and how sports organisations can leverage IP, data-driven strategies, and partnerships with tech companies to enhance long-term revenue and commercial success. With contributions from industry leaders such as Stirling Mortlock, Chief Investment Officer & Founding Partner of XV Capital, and Josh Gormaz, CPO at EngageRM and former Analytics Manager at SoFi Stadium (USA), attendees will gain a comprehensive view of how data and technology can revolutionise sport.

Through its partnership with the NSC Sports Investment Summit, CAS is committed to helping shape the future of Australian sport by encouraging investment at all levels, from community participation to elite competition. “We believe the potential for sport to contribute to Australia’s health, social and economic future is vast, and this summit is a critical step in bringing that vision to life,” said Coten.
