The Confederation of Australian Sport is delighted to report that His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (retd) has accepted the invitation to become Patron.

In the invitation letter CAS highlighted that Sir Peter’s “support as Patron would be a great asset to CAS as we strive to achieve the highest level of recognition and support for community sport. Our ultimate goal is that of a nation where every Australian receives the skills, knowledge, access and opportunity to participate in sport and active recreation throughout their lives.”

His Excellency advises that “he sees the work of the Confederation as complementary to his responsibilities as Governor-General and to the themes of personal interest to him.”

“The CAS Board looks forward to liaising with the Governor-General during his term of office,” said CAS President Rob Bradley. “Sir Peter’s support highlights the importance of sport and the major contribution sport makes to Australia from so many perspectives.”
