The Australian Institute of Sport recently hosted an inaugural in-person meeting of the National Sport Participation Strategy Project Steering Group.
The full-day workshop was a resounding success, featuring productive collaboration among the 17-member team. This diverse group of experts represents a broad cross-section of Australia and brings a wealth of professional and lived experiences to the table, including national sporting organisations, government, community organisations, and research institutions.
The purpose of the workshop was to identify challenges and opportunities related to sport participation, and to lay the foundation for what the future of sport participation in Australia should look like. The Steering Group’s fortnightly meetings will continue to guide the development of the strategy, leveraging the extensive knowledge and expertise of its members to address the most pressing issues facing the Australian sport industry.
This milestone represents a significant step forward in the pursuit of a thriving, inclusive sport community in Australia. The ongoing collaboration and commitment of the National Sport Participation Strategy Project Steering Group ensures that Australia will continue to lead the way in developing and implementing best practices in sport participation.
