The Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) is proud to share the launch of the Safe and Inclusive Sport Community of Practice (CoP) – a dynamic, collaborative platform designed to tackle gender-based violence and promote gender equity within Australian sport. This initiative, driven by Sport and Recreation Victoria, provides a unique opportunity for sport leaders, community organisations, councils, and primary prevention professionals to come together, share insights, and build stronger, safer, and more inclusive sporting environments.
Creating Safe, Inclusive Spaces in Sport
The Safe and Inclusive Sport Community of Practice offers a series of information sessions and workshops aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of gender equity and preventing gender-based violence. The CoP sessions will run from December 2024 through to June 2025, with a mix of face-to-face and online options to ensure wide accessibility.
These sessions will include expert panels, real-world case studies, and small group activities designed to help participants develop actionable strategies for engaging community sports, volunteers, and organisations in the prevention of gender-based violence.
As a sector, Australian sport has a pivotal role to play in ensuring that every participant feels safe, respected, and valued. These sessions are an important step in creating lasting, positive change within our community sporting culture.
